Kids Code Mississippi Partners with Springboard to Opportunities and Google for Innovative Youth Coding Program

Springboard to Opportunities and Kids Code Mississippi teamed up to receive a Google RISE Award, the only one given in Mississippi for 2016. The award funded a 12-week summer program targeting middle school in six federally-subsidized affordable housing communities in Mississippi. The “Springboard Cyber Summer Program” offer 12 two-hour sessions led by professionals in computer-science related fields. Curriculum developed by Kids Code co-founder, Randy Lynn, explored computer science concepts and skills related to game design, interactive storytelling, vector art creation, and 2D animation. The program was implemented at four multifamily housing properties in Jackson, one in Batesville, and one in Hattiesburg.
